Film Industry: Assessment learner response

1) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential).

WWW: Your first two questions are solid with just a little more detail/questions focus keeping you from full marks. The challenge is not matching that in the higher mark questions.

EBI: Written English: particularly long topic sentences that loses focus.
-Revision: Bruce Springsteen not Willis
-In general, Q3 needs more specific and accurate details from the CSP

2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully. Write down the number of marks you achieved for the three questions: 2/3; 5/6; 3/9. If you didn't achieve full marks in a question, write a bullet point on what you may have missed.
Q1- needs more detail
Q2-One of the points is too similar to last
Q3-Got mixed up with names of people and needed more detail.

3) For Question 2 on the promotion of Blinded By The Light, use the mark scheme to identify at least one strategy used to promote the film that you didn't mention in your answer and why it was used. The key lesson from this question was to make specific reference to the CSP in your answer and ensure each explanation was different.

-Traditional marketing was used and it featured Gurinder Chadha's success on her movies and Bruce Springsteen's music.

-Premieres and how they use the stars of the movies and names to attract audiences to a live and first screening of the movie.

-Springsteen's music, this was used in the movie a lot and talked about a bit to bring fans of Springsteen to the movie.

4) Now look at Question 3 - focusing on Hesmondhalgh's point that making media products is a 'risky business'. Write three bullet points from the mark scheme that you could have added to your answer. Try and include a specific reference to the CSP where you can and ensure you understand the key contexts to Hesmondhalgh's quote. Additional reference to Hesmondhalgh's ideas would help here too - you may want to look back at our work on Hesmondhalgh and the Cultural Industries.

-The release of the movie and it's timing of release may have been a bad idea as another movie at the time called "Yesterday" was released and had gained a bit of attention at the time which may have fluctuated Blinded by the light's success

-The cost of the film and its advertising pricing. The amount they made would not have covered all expenses
